Uk births and deaths records

Manchester Registration District Registers for births, marriages and deaths registered more than years ago are now held in the Archives at Manchester Central Library from where certificates are issued. Further registers are transferred at the end of each year. The registers, however, remain closed to public view.

Online orders are automatically steered to the correct location and the correct ordering address is automatically inserted in the postal certificate order forms generated by LancashireBMD. If you wish to place an order in person, then you are advised to check the LancashireBMD index first to establish at which centre to place your order.

Vital records are a cornerstone of family history research because they were typically created at or near the time of the event, making the record more likely to be accurate. This category includes indexes that can help you request copies from vital records keepers, and in some cases the images of actual records. To narrow your search, estimate birth dates using information found in census records and in other records.
