I would really be interested in taking these data points out and correlating them with a county and state demographics database of Texas as a whole, to get a full picture about how the state conceptualizes justice. Thanks for doing this.

Birth Certificate/Death Records

Like for instance, if their photos were the first thing to appear — to give them more of an identity rather than their name appearing in a list. Thanks Tom, Eugene and Lulu for your comments.

Lulu — do you have the link for the NYT story? Just read your blog post on the Texas Executions data. I am emailing, because the comment option is no longer available on the post. We've just had some incredibly exciting news on the case of Kris Maharaj, the Brit who has already spent 33 unjust years in Florida's prison system for a murder he did not commit. Byson Kaula was carrying a sick employee down some stairs to help him to the bath and slipped. When Byson slipped, that man fell and died. Because Byson slipped, he was sentenced to death. Ten of these were children. The commutation of his death sentence to 15 years imprisonment is an important step — but it is not justice.

This information is an invaluable resource to defendants and their families, human rights defenders, the legal community and the media — and a wake-up call for the international community.
