Not bad, good concept but it's really a pain when it comes to syncing. It doesn't seem to do it automatically. I wish they would improve the accompanying software. GPS Trackers For Kids: The Ultimate Guide
So many times I'm in a rush to get out the door and can't find the car keys. With the Tile Sport, I can locate my keys easily with a press of a button on the app on my cell phone. And if I can't find my cell phone I can press the Tile to make my cell phone ring. Super helpful and convenient. The only downside is that the battery only lasts about a year and there's no way to open the unit and replace and so you must buy it again. Otherwise, it's awesome.

Kids GPS Tracker
Connectivity to my phone was awful in the beginning. Now, its fine, but the first few set ups and connecting were awful. Over all, I am satisfied for sure. Does anyone know of another cheaper option that would allow us to find the kids if lost, but without needing an international roaming data plan?

Aren't there apps that do this? You can get a cheap smart phone. The kids will never let it out of their hands. You could then get a local SIM for the phones. Technology has its limitations. The phone may be dropped or separated from your child. The battery can die with the GPS constantly being on. There are many tracking apps in the Apple app store and the Android Play Store. But most will require a data plan,. One option is to use the texting function without a data plan.
I have an Android app called Zoner on my phone. It is primarily an antivirus app, but has the ability to find the phone. You do not need a data plan and the gps can be left off to save the battery. If the phone or child is lost, all you need to do is use another phone to send a coded text to the lost phone or child to remotely turn on the GPS and to have the lost phone automatically send a text with the GPS coordinates of the lost phone back to you.
You can even send a text to have the phone give off a loud alarm to find the phone in a crowd although the alarm is so loud it will probably scare the crap out of your kid. No data required, but you need a text plan. Thanks, guys.
GPS Personal Locator Apps for Locating Kids
Our kids are too young for phones, so we're looking at the types of GPS trackers that look like a watch that they wear on their wrist. Most of them don't have phone capability, but as they do need to be able to relay GPS data to a parent's mobile phone, they do need data. What about the low tech way of child leashes and just keeping your eye on them.
Most people I know use leashes up to the age of 6 to stop their kids running across the intersection before the pedestrian light is on. I agree that if you're children are too young to carry a phone you should be keeping eyes on them.
Independent & Confident Kids | Unworried Parents
I can't imagine you'd let them that far out of sight if so young. I did read an article the other day about parents wanting GPS for their kids in event of a terror incident. That makes more sense I guess. This may not answer your tech question, but I was sitting inside a coffee shop in Bergen, Norway a year or so ago and noticed a Dad at the bus stop across the street who had a very clever technique.
He was dealing with bus routes or tickets, etc. They were not coordinated enough to run off together in that way. When he was done, they were allowed to let go of one hand, and they all walked off together, holding hands. It's hard keeping an eye on multiple kids, especially when you might be distracted. Good on you to think ahead about it. Just make sure they have the accommodation address and your phone number somewhere safely on them. I use to give the kids my phone number or write it on their arms in permanent marker and tell them if they lost me to go to a lady with children or a store owner and ask them to call me.
